ABOUT
DAVE HORTON, ORIGINALLY FROM LIVERPOOL,
PLAYS LIVE BEATLES and optional BUDDY HOLLY SONGS.
WITH HIS OWN BACKING TRACKS,
THE SOUND IS AMAZINGLY AUTHENTIC!
Dave Horton has played drums, guitar and bass in many bands since he was a teenager in Liverpool. Always a Beatles fan, he has now turned his talents to a one-man Beatles tribute act, showcasing a wide range of their most popular songs. Using the latest recording software, Dave has recorded all his own backing tracks using live instruments and voices, over which he sings and plays guitar, for a very realistic sound. He uses Gretsch and Rickenbacker guitars, like the Beatles did, dresses in three different costumes as he travels through the sixties, and delivers interesting background information about the songs, in his Liverpool accent.
OPTIONAL BUDDY HOLLY TRIBUTE GUEST SPOT
This optional half-hour spot features authentic Fender guitar and costume, and a Texan accent!
The Beatle, or "The Beatle & Buddy Show" is ideal for pub and club entertainment, themed weddings or corporate functions, fund-raising dances, restaurants or parties, particularly for Beatles, Buddy Holly or 50s/60s fans. Now based in Reading, Dave normally works in Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and Bucks but will go further afield in the South-East.
He regularly plays in Basingstoke, Wokingham, Maidenhead, Newbury, Andover, High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Marlow, Henley, Farnham, Guildford, Southampton, Bracknell, Slough, Staines, Watford, West London, Aldershot, Epsom, Amersham, Oxford and Uxbridge, so if you're looking for a Beatles tribute in Bucks, a 60s singer in Berkshire, or a club entertainer in Hampshire, contact the Beatle! Yeah yeah yeah!

FAQs
Q - How long will you play for?
A - The usual is 2 x 1 hour sets, or 3 x 45mins, with breaks. More is possible. If the Buddy Holly tribute guest spot is chosen, that would normally take the middle of 3 sets for approx 30mins.

Q - How much time do you need to set up?
A - Dave usually arrives 2 hours before his start time, to set up and sound check.
Q - Do you use karaoke backing tracks?
A - No! They sound pretty awful. All the backing tracks have been recorded by Dave himself using the latest recording software, with live instruments and live harmony vocals. Some of the songs use up to 12 tracks, with Dave always singing lead vocals and playing guitar live. The resulting sound is amazingly realistic.
Q - Can you play quietly, for example while people are eating?
A - Yes! Using high quality equipment means volume is controllable to the audience's taste. Dave often performs in restaurants where he plays the quiet acoustic songs over dinner, then increases the volume as required for dancing later.
Q - Can you play out of doors?
A - In warmer weather, yes, but cover must be provided, as rain can ruin expensive equipment.
Q - What power sockets are required?
A - Just one 13A mains socket will be enough.
Q - How much space do you need?
A - Not much! Dave hasn't found anywhere yet that he can't squeeze into. Ideally approx 3m long x 1m deep as a minimum.
Q - Can you do requests?
A - Only Beatles and Buddy Holly! (Not Abba, sorry!) If you want your favourite Beatles or Buddy song which isn't on the list (see earlier page), Dave may be able to do it, given some weeks' notice to record the backing tracks. If for your function there are any songs on the list that you particularly do (or don't) want, please give a week's notice of this, as Dave works out the programme carefully in advance.
Q - Can you provide background music?
A - Yes, we usually play a variety of 50s and 60s classics, before he starts, during intervals, and after he has finished. Or we can play your CD or MP3 music through our sound system.
Q - How does your booking process work?
A - After you've contacted us for a quotation, if you want to go ahead, we will send you two copies of a contract, one to keep, and one to sign and return with a non-refundable £100 deposit to confirm the booking.
